Shirley Mae Miller, 81 of Indianapolis, IN passed away Friday, September 5, 2008. She was born May 2, 1927 in Bloomfield, IN to the late Francis Henry Carmichael and the late Helen Marietta (Pake) Carmichael. She married the late Lloyd Miller on June 9, 1946.
Shirley has lived in Decatur Township for 63 years and in Green County, IN for 19 years. She was a 1945 Switz City High School graduate. She was a 49 year member of the West Newton Friends Church where she was also past Treaurer. Shirley was the Past Worthy Matron and member of the West Newton Order of Eastern Star #489, and the Decatur Township Quilting Guild. She was a Secretary for West Newton Friends Daycare for 20 years and she was also a Seamstress from 1968-1988 and was a Sales Clerk for JC Penney in Southern Plaza for 5 years.
Shirley is survived by 4 Children: Steven (Janet) Miller of Mooresville, IN, Nancy (William) Gray of Searsboro, IA, Jane (Dan) Wonn of Indianapolis, IN, and Lori (Todd) Wix of Indianapolis, IN; 10 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother, James Carmichael; 2 Sisters, Patsy Justus of Mooresville, IN and Sue Justus of Greenfield, IN.
Calling hours for Shirley will be from 3-8pm, Sunday, September 7, 2008 and 1-2pm, Monday, September 8, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary. There will also be an Eastern Star Service at 7:30pm, Sunday, September 7, 2008. The funeral will be at 2pm, Monday, September 8, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary with Charles Bunner to officiate. Shirley will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
