Sharon Sue (Hibler) Smith, 80, lifetime resident of Decatur Township, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022. She was born October 9th, 1941 in Indianapolis to her parents, Lewis R. and Katherine D. (Jones) Hibler. She married the late William H. "Bill" Smith on April 14th, 1962.
Sue is survived by her three children: Brian (Devona Manion) (Trish Hodgson) Smith of Greencastle, Todd (Sherri) Smith of Greencastle, and Susan (Andy) Lorimer of Greencastle; nine grandchildren: Breana (Riley) Nungester, Lexi Smith, Casey (Chelsea) Smith, Ben (Marley) Smith, Tiffany (Cory Grass) Smith, Sarah Lorimer, Jacob Lorimer, David Lorimer, and Michael Lorimer; three great grandchildren: Ari, Jamison, and Liliann; three nephews: Steve, Scott, and Greg Hibler; and sister in laws: Maryann Hibler and Kitten (Rick) Cox. Sue is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, William H. "Bill" Smith; brother, Jerry Hibler; nephew, Steve Cox; and niece, Kathy Rigdon.
Sue was a 1959 graduate of Decatur Central High School and furthered her studies at I.U.P.U.I. She was a permanent Substitute Teacher and Nurses Assistant for Decatur Township Schools for several years. Sue previously worked for Link Belt in Avon. She was a member of Free Spirit Baptist Church in Indianapolis and a previous member of Ben Davis Christian Church. Sue loved her family very much. Her late husband, Bill Smith, was the love of her life. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also treasured her dog, Bella. She enjoyed traveling, especially going to Florida. Sue loved and enjoyed family functions. She also had a very strong love for shopping at Macy's.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 4:30 to 6pm on Sunday, January 30th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 6pm following visitation at the funeral home. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
