Sharon Jane (Fields) Raymond went to be with the Lord with family by her side on February 15, 2016 at the age of 78 in Austin, Texas. Sharon was born to Carlton and Mary Elizabeth âBettyâ (Cook) Fields on December 16, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN.
Sharon graduated from Decatur Central High School, received her graduate degree from IU and her Masters in Music Education from Butler. Sharon married Gene Raymond in 1970 and they had two boys she could not have been more proud of, Todd and Chad. Sharon shared her love for music through teaching. Sharon had a way of keeping you in line with her steel blue eyes that would immediately break into smile for a job well done. She taught grades 1-12 for 40 years before retiring. Sharon loved life and always found joy whether it was through memories of the many students and choirs she choreographed over the years or through her daydreaming of herself choreographing the choirs of her grandchildren. She found the most joy in her sons, Todd and Chad, who are both football coaches. Sharon was always current on the football scoop and the biggest fan of whatever teams her sons were coaching.
Sharon is survived by Gene Raymond, her children Todd (Callie) Raymond, Chad (Shellie) Raymond, her beloved grandchildren Cayden and Avery, her sister-in-law Barb Fields and niece and nephews Bruce, Amy (Frye), John and James. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Mary Elizabeth âBettyâ Fields and by her brother, Dr. Bruce C. Fields.
