Sandra "Sandy" J. (Farmer) Filipovich, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, March 19th, 2024. She was born September 29th, 1942 in Martinsville to Gene and Jean (Peachey) Farmer. Sandra married the late Daniel Filipovich on September 16th, 1962.
Sandra is survived by her three children: Laurie (Filipovich) Gipson of Indianapolis, Kristina (Filipovich) Haggard (Dwight) of New Palestine, and Nathan Filipovich (Allisan) of Indianapolis; three siblings: Jef Farmer (Dianne) of Plainfield, Charles David Farmer (Karen) of Indianapolis, and Cindy Schofield (Jim) of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren: Danielle Gipson of Indianapolis, Shelby Gipson of Mooresville, Hayden Filipovich of Indianapolis, Addison Filipovich of Indianapolis, Hadleigh Filipovich of Indianapolis, Liam Haggard of New Palestine, Logan Haggard of New Palestine, and Ellie Haggard of New Palestine; and sister-in-law, Debbie Farmer.
Sandra is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; two siblings: Bruce and Ralph Farmer; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Farmer.
Sandy was a 1960 graduate of Decatur Central High School. After graduating high school, she attended IU for a semester. She went on to obtain her Mortgage Broker's License and worked in Real Estate for over 20 years. She retired from Excel Decorators after 14 years. Sandy was a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis. She was a former member of the Decatur Township Board of Trustees, a former Precinct Committeeman, and former President of Hoosier Girl Scouts of America; she held the position of a leader for the Girl Scouts for several years. Along with her staying plenty busy, she enjoyed her share of sports and spending time with her family and friends. She was known to be a patient, kind, big hearted, stubborn, and sassy woman.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 2 pm to 6 pm Sunday, March 24th and from 10 am to 11 am on Monday, March 25th at Jones Family Mortuary, in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 25th following the visitation at the Funeral Home.
