Robert Dale Dyer

Robert (Bob) Dale Dyer Jr., 70, beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather passed away on April 6, 2023 from a heart attack after battling heart disease throughout much of his adult life.

Bob was born in Martinsville, IN on October 29, 1952 to Robert Dyer Sr. and Frances (Lowry) Powell, and was the oldest of five children. He was a Vietnam War veteran and proudly served his country from 1971 to 1977 with distinction earning the Air Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. Bob married Kerry Sue (Robinson) Dyer on June 16, 1973 resettling in Morgan County and growing the family with the addition of daughters, Melissa and Valerie. Bob's armed forces service played an important role in his life. He routinely donated to veteran's causes, spoke at veteran's events, and was involved with mentoring veterans and amputees. Bob was a skilled craftsman in many trades and had a key role in constructing many buildings in Martinsville, Morgan County, and throughout central Indiana earning him the nickname "Bob the Builder" by many who loved him. Bob had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Bob was widowed by Kerry Sue in 2007 after 34 years of marriage and remarried to Lois Swope Dyer in 2016. Bob was loved by everyone he met and always had a smile on his face. He loved fiercely and brought joy to every room he entered.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Kerry Sue Dyer, his mother Frances Powell, his father Robert Dyer Sr., his brother Randy Dyer, and his best friend for many years, John Carr.

Bob is survived by his wife Lois Swope Dyer, his daughters Melissa (Darren) Fish and Valerie (Jeremy) Kinman, his grandchildren Olivia Fish, Maggie Kinman, and Thomas Kinman, his stepchildren Chris (Billie) Hillman and Andy (Stacy) Painter, and his step-grandchildren Topher Hillman, Hannah Hillman, Gabby Painter, Carleigh Young and Austin Motes.

A memorial gathering will take place at Jones Family Mortuary, 4165 East Allison Road, Mooresville, IN on Friday, April 14th, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Military rites will be performed at 5:30 pm at the funeral home, Friday April 14th. A private burial of Bob's ashes will take place at Forest Lawn at a later date.
