Richard Sponsler

Richard F. Sponsler, 66 of Spencer, IN passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008. He was born September 12, 1941 in Springfield, IL to the late Richard Sponsler and the late Margaret A. (Bowman) Sponsler. Richard has lived in Spencer, IN for 21 years, Morgantown, IN for 15 years, and in Indianapolis, IN. He was a Cathedral High School Graduate out of Springfield, IL and was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Spencer, IN. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Indianapolis, IN and the Indiana Sherrifs Association. He worked for Allied Farm Equipment in Springfield, IL and Indianapolis, IN for 15 years. He also worked as a Manager for Glendale Cinema in Indianapolis, IN and Springfield, IL for several years, retiring in 1990. Richard is survived by his Wife, Francis Wilson Sponsler of Spencer, IN; 1 Son, Bryan Sponsler of Terre Haute, IN; 2 Daughters, Jana Sponsler of Peru, IN and Mary Evelyn Woods of Spencer, IN; 12 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; and 6 Sisters: Margaret and Linda Moats, Jenny McEroy, Beverly Quizin, Barbara Barns, and Shirley Jackson. He is also preceded in death by 1 Brother, Robert Sponsler. Calling hours for Richard will be from 3-8pm, Friday, May 23, 2008 and 10-11am, Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary. The funeral will be at 11am, Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary with David Payton to officiate. Richard will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery and Memorial Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
