Richard Garfield Hawkins Jr.

Richard Garfield Hawkins Jr., 67, of Martinsville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 24th, 2024. He was born October 19th,1956 in Lebanon, Indiana to his parents Richard Garfield and Rebecca Sue (Shanklin) Hawkins. He was married to Nancy Louise (Meyer) Hawkins.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy Hawkins of Martinsville; five children, Mary Lynn Hawkins of New Zealand, Debbie Hawkins of New Jersey, Stacy Claprodt (Adam) of Mooresville, Joseph Richard Hawkins of Martinsville, and Angela Miessler (R.C.) of Pennsylvania; his father, Richard Garfield Hawkins Sr. of Jamestown; his sister, Carla Hedrick (Doug) of Jamestown; and seven grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Sue Hawkins.

Richard was a 1974 graduate of North East High School in Florida. He was employed as a diesel mechanic for more than 30 years at Ryder, where he retired in 2021. Richard loved to work on vehicles and go to yard sales with his friend. Richard was known by many as a unique man.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 1:00-2:00 pm Monday September 30th, 2024 at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A celebration of life service to start at 2:00 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Cremation to follow. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service.
