Richard B. Enlow Sr., 71, of Plainfield, passed away Tuesday, February 4th, 2025. He was born August 14th, 1953 in Beech Grove to his parents Orval Jr. and Hiwana Louise (Day) Enlow. He married Brenda S. (Whitaker) Enlow on September 28th, 1979.
Richard is survived by his wife, Brenda S. Enlow of Plainfield; one son, Richard B. Enlow Jr. (Jessica) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two granddaughters: Zoe and Peyton Cannon; one grandson, Devin Matthew Enlow; and one brother, Orval Robert Enlow (Patty) of Indianapolis. Richard is preceded in death by both of his parents and sister, Mary Jane Enlow.
Richard, a proud graduate of Eminence High School in 1971, went on to pursue his education at the University of Evansville and ultimately earned his Master's degree in History from Indiana State University in 1976. His commitment to education was evident throughout his career as he dedicated 34 years to teaching at Eminence High School, touching countless lives before his retirement in 2009. He later continued to serve as a professor at Union Bible College in Westfield and Ivy Tech Community College.
A faithful attendee of the Greencastle Holiness Church in Greencastle, Richard also cherished his previous connections with the Calvary Bible Wesleyan Church in Plainfield. His passion for baseball, especially for the Yankees, was just one of the many joys in his life. He also found happiness in fishing and actively engaging in politics, serving as the Republican Precinct Committeeman in Eminence for about five years.
Richard was truly a remarkable person, known for his unwavering loyalty to those he loved and his innate ability to make everyone feel seen and accepted. No one was ever a stranger to him; he had a unique way of connecting with others. Richard's dedication to teaching Sunday School reflected his deep faith and love for his community, a testament to the impact he had on so many lives. His memory will undoubtedly be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 12 pm (noon) to 1 pm on Tuesday, February 11th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. Pastor Greg Hobelman will officiate a celebration of life service at 1 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Richard will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
