Richard Collins

Richard "Dick" Eugene Collins, 71, of Camby, IN passed away January 12, 2006. He was born September 27, 1934 to the late Clarence Alvin Collins and the late Hilma Louise (Osborn) Collins. His memberships included: Decatur Township Civic Council, former member of Decatur Optimist Club, Long time coach for Decatur Central Middle and High School Softball, including Volunteer coach for the 1999-2000 Decatur Central Varsity Girls Softball IHSAA State Championship; runner up both years. He was a 25 year Decatur Township 4-H Dog Obedience Dog Leader, also nicknamed "Mr. Hawk and Coach Collins" for all the support for many years of Decatur Central Athletics including little league. He was inducted in the 1998 Decatur Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame, also a supported of "Dollars for Scholars" for Decatur Township, member of the white river Golden Retriever Club and Golden Retriever of America for 20 years, while raising, training, and showing Golden Retrievers. Before retiring in 1991, he was Manager of Capitol Oil in Camby, IN for 10 years. Previously, he was a window and door installer for Eller and son in Indianapolis, IN. Besides his wife, Judith Ann (Taylor)Collins of Camby, IN, he is also survived by 3 children; Sandra Jo(Collins)Hendrickson of Carpenterville, ILL; Rebecca Lyn Collins of Camby, IN; Jeffrey Eugene Collins of Mars Hill, IN and a brother Charles A. Collins of Indianapolis, IN. Calling hours 10-3pm, Monday, January 16, 2006 at Camby Community Church, Camby, IN with the funeral at 3pm at the church. Charles Paxton will be officiating the service. Richard will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
