Richard Joseph "Joe" Branam, 76, of Mooresville, passed away Monday, October 9th, 2023. He was born September 4th, 1947 to his parents James N. and Grace Noel (Montgomery) Branam. He married Ava June (Whaley) Branam on December 31st, 1985. He was a resident of Mooresville during his early years and most recently was a resident of Cloverdale for 35 years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Ava June (Whaley) Branam of Plainfield; two children: Bryan Branam of Mooresville and Melissa Stevenson (Gary) of Cloverdale; three step children: Karen Dilcher Hayden (Bryan) of Arkansas, Ryan J. Kerzan (Janie) of Columbia, South Carolina and Anthony S. Kerzan (Auleen) of Danville; 9 grandchildren: Dakota, Madison, Parker, Savannah, Stevie, Baileah, Harleigh, Levi, and Ella; brother, Doug Branam; and his sibling in laws: William and Karen Whaley, Don and Terri Becom, Joseph and Ann Whaley, and Bobby and Nan Burton. Richard is preceded in death by both of his parents; one grandson, Anthony Dilcher; and several brothers and sisters.

Richard was a 1965 graduate of Mooresville High School. He later joined the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. Richard was a Plumber for R & R Plumbing in Indianapolis for 13 years. He enjoyed fishing, drawing, woodworking, and going to the casino with his wife, Ava. Richard was a avid football fan, who also loved Nascar, military history and skeet shooting. Many that knew Richard, knew him as a patient and hardworking man. He was a jack of all trades. He never judged anyone and was an animal lover. Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
