Ralph "Duane" Bastin, 79, of Mooresville, passed away Wednesday, January 10th, 2024. He was born January 10th, 1945 in Indianapolis to his parents Harvey Emory Jr. and Mary Lou (Fletcher) Bastin. He married the late Carol Jean (Blackman) Bastin on January 10th, 1963.
Duane is survived by his three children: Robin Bastin Perkins (David) of Mooresville, Kevin Duane Bastin (Karen) of Plainfield, and William Eugene "Bill" Bastin (Star) of Mooresville; two grandsons: Matthew Perkins (Janet) and Cody Perkins (Edie); one great grandson: Maverick Vincent Perkins; several step great and great great grandchildren; and two brothers: Randy Bastin (Missy) of Salem, Indiana and Harvey Emory "Chip" Bastin III of Indianapolis. Duane is preceded in death by both of his parents, wife, and one brother, Mark Bastin.
Duane was a 1963 graduate of Salem High School, where he lettered in baseball, basketball, and football. He was a Machinist for Allison Transmission General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 1998. Duane was a member of UAW Local 933. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, golfing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family. Duane was loved by everyone and was known by many to be quite the character.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 1130 am to 1 pm on Saturday, January 13th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm following visitation on Saturday, January 13th at the funeral home. Duane will be laid to rest at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
