It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pauline M. Keown, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on April 12, 2026, at the age of 86. Pauline was born on November 2, 1939, in Albany, Kentucky, to her parents Paul and Ruby (Updike) Brown and spent her final years in Camby, Indiana.
Throughout her life, Pauline was a fierce and spirited woman, embodying the essence of love and dedication to her family. A homemaker by vocation, she poured her heart into her home and family, nurturing a warm and inviting space for all who knew her. Pauline was deeply devoted to her family, and her legacy will live on through her three sons, Billy Keown (Kathy) of Camby, Robert Keown of Mooresville, and Tommy Keown (Marcella) of Georgia; seven adored grandchildren; seven cherished great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Brown; and sister, Susie Thompson.
Pauline was a proud member of Life Line Baptist Church, where she drew strength and solace in her faith. She had a passion for gardening, and even at 86, she could be found tending to her beloved flowers and vegetables, relishing the joys of nature. Her hands, seemingly made for creation, were also skilled in quilting, a craft she cherished, as well as the lively card games of euchre, where her competitive spirit shone brightly.
Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Keown; her parents; a son, John Keown; her daughter-in-law, Karen Marie Keown; and many beloved siblings, including seven brothers: Bill, Herbert, Eugene, Keith, Willard, Garland Lee, and Rick; and four sisters: Mary Gibbons, Christine Cook, Kathleen Gibson, and Bessie Bingham. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a "fiesty" spirit that will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for Pauline will be held at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, April 17 and from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, April 18 at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 18 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery, alongside her husband, where her spirit will continue to shine.
In this time of grief, we remind ourselves of the joy Pauline brought to our lives, the lessons she imparted, and the love she spread so generously. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a source of comfort to all who loved her.
