Norma June Anderson, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 83. Born on June 11, 1942 to her parents John Harvey and Lavita (Webb) Johnson, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Norma touched the lives of those around her with her kindness, youthful spirit, and unwavering faith.
Norma, a proud attendee of Shortridge High School, dedicated ten years of her life to serving as a cook at Mickey and Bill's and later at Marsh, where her warm smile and delicious meals created a welcoming environment for countless customers. She was an active member of Westside Baptist Church in Indianapolis, where her generous spirit and strong beliefs left an indelible mark on her community.
In her leisure time, Norma found joy in sewing and knitting, crafting beautiful pieces that cherished family and friends. She adored gardening, especially her beloved lilies, and had a particular fondness for watching the Hallmark Channel, often reminiscing about the warmth and love depicted in the stories. Her compassionate nature and ability to trust others will be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Norma is survived by her two children, John Edward Anderson and Jason Phillip Anderson, both of Indianapolis; her step-son, Steven Lee Anderson (Angie); her siblings, Vicki Cole, June Rather (Jim), and Rebecca Vorhies (Donald); as well as several cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will carry her spirit in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Edward Anderson; her sister, Phyllis Lee; her step-son, Scott Anderson; and both of her parents, who welcomed her into the world many years ago.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Norma's life on January 13, 2026. A Public Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM, and a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A graveside service will follow at West Newton Cemetery, where Norma will be laid to rest.
As we bid farewell to Norma, let us remember the love and kindness she shared, the laughter she brought into our lives, and the legacy of compassion she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
