Norma J. (Bowersock) Crouse, 96, of Mooresville, passed away Saturday, November 1st, 2025, while being tenderly loved and cared for by family and staff. She was born February 2nd, 1929 at home in Worthington, Indiana to her parents George Robert and Mary Ann (Pruitt) Bowersock. She married the late Hubert L. Crouse on August 27th, 1947.
Norma is survived by her two daughters: Angela Sweeney (Don) of Greenwood and Rebecca Carlisle (James) of Martinsville; four grandchildren: Marta Crocker, Kristie Sweeney, Scott Carlisle, and A.J. Sweeney; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Herman of Martinsville.
Norma is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Hubert L. Crouse; and eight siblings.
Norma was a proud graduate of Switz City High School and embraced motherhood with the births of her daughters, Angela in 1949 and another daughter, Rebecca in 1952. She dedicated 30 years as a machine operator for Link-Belt (Regal Rexnord) at the Belmont Plant, showcasing her resilience during frequent layoffs, a testament to her strong work ethic from growing up in the Great Depression.
Throughout her career, she worked at Griffin's Engineering, the Woolen Mill, and Formfit Lingerie, always returning to Link-Belt for better pay. After losing their home to a fire in 1962, the family moved closer to work in Indianapolis, first settling in Martinsville and later in Mooresville.
In retirement, Norma returned to work at Macy's Department Store, fulfilling her love for shopping and gardening, where she proudly nurtured her plants. She and her husband spent 17 winters in Fort Myers, Florida, creating cherished memories with friends. Her greatest passion was her family; she organized gatherings, Sunday dinners, and holidays, ensuring everyone stayed connected.
Deeply devoted to her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Norma always wanted to be involved in their lives. Coming from a family of ten, she cherished her siblings and adored her many nieces and nephews. She expressed her love through both words, "I love you" and actions, welcoming those in need into her home. Norma embodied a legacy of love, warmth, and togetherness.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, November 6th and from 10 to 11 am on Friday, November 7th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.
