Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nathaniel R. Buis, affectionately known as Nate, who left us on January 18, 2026, at the age of 44. Born in Martinsville, to his parents Randy and Jennifer J. (Holt) Buis, on June 20, 1981, Nate grew up in Mooresville, where he became a cherished friend and brother to many. A proud graduate of Mooresville High School in 1999, he later pursued his passion for business, earning an Associate's Degree from Indiana Tech in 2004.

For three years, Nate contributed his skills as a Machine Operator at TOA, where he was appreciated for his work ethic and easy-going demeanor. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead Christian Church, where he found solace and community among fellow congregants.

Nate had a vibrant spirit, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and a smile that could brighten the darkest days. He was quiet, caring, kind, and had a love for animals. His love for music, especially the timeless tunes of Bruce Springsteen, filled his life with joy. He was also a devoted football fan, proudly cheering on his favorite team, the Tennessee Titans.

Nate is survived by his beloved mother, Jennifer Buis of Mooresville, and a supportive extended family, including his paternal grandmother, Martha Buis, four uncles-Larry Buis (Helen), Dan Buis (Rita), Chris Holt (Cyndi), and Matt Holt-two aunts, Carolyn McCory (Jerry) and Teresa Lay. He joins his father, Randy Buis; grandfather, Raymond Buis; maternal grandparents, Norman and Louise Holt; aunt, Kathi Redman; and uncles, Tim Holt and Dan Holt, in eternal rest.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, January 27th from 4 to 7 pm at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nate's memory to the Morgan County Humane Society, 690 W Mitchell Ave, Martinsville, IN 46151 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10017
