Nancy Lee Mitchell, 79, of Camby, passed away Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025. She was born December 30th, 1945 in White Plains, New York to her parents Elvin Darrell Mitchell and Ann Dorothy Guinee.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters: Kimberly Ann Mitchell-Campbell (Rodney) of Mooresville and Leslie R. Mitchell (Josh) of Camby; four grandchildren: Andrew Kaleb Arthur of Muncie, Taylar Nicole Dillehay of Camby, Noah David Ford-Burdine of Indianapolis, and Kylar Andrew Ford-Burdine of Camby; her fur grandbabies; niece, Robin Lynn Smith; nephew: Henry Scott Mitchell; and all their children and grandchildren.
Nancy is preceded in death by both of her parents; and sister, Sue-Ann Mitchell-Wayt.
Nancy was a hardworking, thoughtful, and caring person that never missed a birthday or family event. Nancy dedicated 27 years of her life as a baker at Mooresville IGA and spent 12 years at Mooresville Marsh. She was a reliable source for many cakes and other treats to celebrate her loved ones during her years in the bakery, and she continued to cook and bake for those she held dear long after her retirement. She also enjoyed planting flowers and decorating for every holiday. An unwavering part of her display was a concrete goose, which she kept on her porch year-round for decades and dressed up for each season. Caring for her grandchildren brought her immense happiness and she was known for her stubbornness paired with deep love, she inspired all who knew her.
Prior to the passing of her beloved sister, Sue Ann Mitchell-Wyatt, in 2023, the pair were linked by frequent phone calls, visits, and a lifetime of memories. Susie was her confidant and her closest lifelong friend. Another longtime friend was her hairstylist, Nanette Inlow-Burton, who lovingly stood by her side through much more than a bad hair day or two.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.
