Myrtle Fern Strong, 97 years of age passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010. She was born June 28, 1913 in Poland, IN to the late Bruce and Ella Mae (Frassa) Mustard. Myrtle married the late Carl Strong on May 8, 1932.
She lived in Poland, IN for 16 years, Indianapolis, IN for 29 years, and in Mooresville, IN for 54 years. Myrtle was a Homemaker. She was very active in church at Ben Davis Christian Church and Westbrook Nazarene Church in Indianapolis, IN. After moving to Mooresville, IN in 1956, she became a member of the Brooklyn Christian Church. Fern was very active in her church, Homemakers Club, and the Senior Center of Mooresville and Martinsville. She loved quilting, gardening, traveling, and working in her yard.
She is survived by 1 Daughter, Trudy (Stanley) Butrum of Mooresville, IN; 4 Grandchildren: LeAnn Sawyers of Nashville, IN, Carl Eugene Butrum of Gosport, IN, Kimberly Butrum Griffith of Lawrence, IN, and Randy Butrum of Mooresville, IN; 5 Great Grandchildren: Richard Allen, Treazure, Caleb, Alex Nicole, and Morgan Ann; and 4 Great Great Grandchildren: Taylor and Mya Sawyers, Blaine and Kyndall Butrum-Griffith. She is also preceded in death by 3 Sisters: Gertrude Killion, Mary Brewer, and Mabel Bass; and 3 Brothers: Ralph Mustard, Harley Mustard, and Max Mustard.
Calling hours for Myrtle Fern Strong will be from 2-8pm, Tuesday, September 28, 2010 and 1 hour prior to the service at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. The funeral will be at 11am, Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Jones Family Mortuary. Bill Burkley and Jeff Castetter will officiate the service and Myrtle will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
