Mildred J. Smith, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2016. Mildred was born to Harvey Seiber and Dorothy (Taylor) Caldwell on July 15, 1940 in Clinton, TN. She married Charles Lee Smith on August 21, 1959.

Mildred worked at Rytex, Inc. in Indianapolis for 18 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She lived in Indianapolis for most of her life, Pontiac, MI for a few years and grew up in Pineville, KY.

Mildred is survived by three children: Debra (Dwayne) Hurt of Indianapolis, Jeffery (Jo) Smith of Tempe, AZ and Tracy Smith of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jewel Smith of Harrison, MI and Betty Pepper of Fayetteville, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents; father that raised Mildred, Jeff Caldwell; and her husband.

Family and friends may gather from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 with Rev. Vernon Murray officiating Mildred's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Mildred will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery, Indianapolis.
