Mia Jaylynn Stevens, 22, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, November 13th, 2024. Her parents Mike and Corrie Stevens (Phelps) brought her into this world on October 17th, 2002.
Mia is survived by both of her parents; one sister, Zoe Stevens; one brother, Eli Stevens; one grandmother, Vickie Phelps, and one great-grandmother, Suzette Lamey.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents: Thomas Phelps, Jim and Sue Smith, Carol Smith, and Donna Kinser; one cousin, Amy Brown; and one uncle, Bob Smith.
Mia was a 2021 graduate of Decatur Central High School. During her time there, she painted two murals in the school's hallways, which still remain today. In high school, Mia was an active member of the golf team, the Goldenaires, as well as performing arts. Growing up, she dedicated ten years to 4-H, where she expressed her love for animals. Additionally, Mia was a member of the Girl Scouts for the same duration. For five years, she worked at Applebee's, where she formed lasting connections with coworkers and customers. Mia's passion for art was remarkable, showcasing her exceptional talent through painting, pencil drawings, and digital art. She was known for her big heart, welcoming everyone she met, and was often referred to as a "great big sister." Mia's kind and friendly personality will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and coworkers.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 3 to 6 pm on Monday, November 18th at Jones Crossing Banquet Center in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 pm following the visitation at the banquet center. Mia will be laid to rest during a private graveside service at West Newton Cemetery.
