Melba I (Hill) Wallace, 99, of Monrovia, passed away Tuesday, March 28th, 2023. She was born March 11th, 1924 in Hopewell, Virginia to her parents William J. and Kaddie May (Cox) Hill. She married the late Donald Wallace on August 13th, 1954. She was a resident of North Carolina for 26 years, Indianapolis for 4 years and a resident of Monrovia since 1954.
Melba is survived by her two daughters: Beverly (Jack) Milner of New York and Carolyn (James) Campbell of Westfield; 3 grandchildren: Denise Howell, Kerri Noyes, and Allison Creekmore-Long; and 6 great grandchildren: Lauren, Haley, Jacob, Miles, Wesley, and Eleanor. Melba is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Donald Wallace; and one daughter, Teri Wallace.
Melba worked at Cherry Point Marine Base in Havelock, North Carolina for 3 years and Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis for 2 years. She was a member of Monrovia United Methodist Church. Melba enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved music, especially the Statler Brothers, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. Melba was always happiest when spending time with her family and friends.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 11:30 am to 1 pm on Thursday, April 6th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Melba will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Hall in Hall, Indiana.
