Mayme Doane, 93, of Indianapolis passed away December 29, 2006. She was born in Patoka, IL on April 30, 1913 to the late George Washington Bowen and Letha (Richards) Bowen. She married on December 19, 1958 to Earl Doane.
She lived in Illinois for 22 years and in Mooresville for 47 years. She attended The Church at Mt. Gilead. She was also the former proprietor of Handy Hardware from 1959 to when she retired in 1974.
Mayme was survived by her Son, Gene (Nancy) Crothers of Louisville, KY; 2 Daughters: Margaret (Richard) Justice of Indianapolis and Joyce (Frank) Athey of Terre Haute; 2 Step Daughters: Barbara Huey of Houston, TX and Lynne (George) Wonders of Arizona; 9 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great, Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers: Albert Bowen of Moweaqua, IL, Wesley Bowen of Poway, CA; and Ken Bowen of Casper, WY; 3 Sisters: Freda Chasteen of Salem, IL, Leona Eller of Washington, IL, and Kathy Smith of Centralia, IL. She is also preceded by 2 Brothers, Dean Bowen and Clifton "Tib" Bowen; 2 Sisters, Mildred Adams and Edie Howeler; 1 Granddaughter, Stacey Elsbury.
Calling hours will be 4-8pm, Tuesday, January 2, 2007 and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. The funeral will begin at 11am, Wednesday, January 3, 2007. They will both be at Jones Family Mortuary. Terry Christ will be officiating the service. Mayme will be laid to rest at Mooresville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Church at Mt. Gilead Building Fund.
