Max F. Bura, 96 years of age of Monrovia, IN passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007. He was born September 10, 1910 in Ramona, KS to the late Maxmilian E.G. Bura and the late Julia (Pecinovsky) Bura. He married the late Beatrice (Ucker) Bura on August of 1936. Max has lived in Monrovia since 2003. He lived in Wichita, KS for 66 years and at his birthplace, Ramona, KS for 26 years. He was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Max was very active in the Senior Games in Kansas for 20 years, where he was the oldest active participant. He was a State Medalist in Track and Field events and a National Gold Medalist in Cycling at the First National Senior Olympics held in St. Louis, MO where he received his Gold Medal from Bob Hope. Before retiring in 1973, he was owner/operator of Storer Refrigeration for 15 years. Previously, he was a Tool and Die Maker for Boeing Aircraft in Kansas for 30 years. Max is survived by 2 Children, Marlene M. Yaw of Monrovia, IN and Michael Bura of Monrovia, IN; 2 Grandchildren, Rebecca Coffey of Ohio and Dr. Michelle E. Johnson of Ohio; 2 Great Grandchildren, Johanna Grace and Colleen Marie Johnson; Half Sister, Miriam Riddle of TX; and Half Brother, Aaron Bura of KS. Calling hours for Max will be from 4-8pm, Friday, August 31, 2007 at Jones Family Mortuary. The funeral will be at 10:00am Saturday, September 1, 2007 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Father Mark Gottemoeller will be officiating the service. There will also be a Prayer Service at 9:15am, September 1, 2007 at Jones Family Mortuary. Max will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Tampa, Kansas on Wednesday, September 4, 2007. In Lieu of Flowers, please give Memorial Contributions to the St. Thomas Building Fund or the Kansas Senior Olympics.
