Mary Carolyn Gentry

Carolyn (Thompson) Gentry, 86, of Camby, passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2023 at Plainfield Healthcare Center. Carolyn was born in Indianapolis on June 26th, 1937 to the late Elmer and Kathryn B. (Hensley) Thompson. She married the late Jesse Ray Gentry on September 18th, 1965.

Carolyn is survived by her three children: Kathy Ward of Indianapolis, Sherri Cave (Philip) of Trafalgar, and Greg Gentry (Kristina) of Cloverdale; three grandchildren: Nathaniel Cave, Jessica Owsley (Dayton), and McKenzie Gentry (Cole Hollingsworth); one great granddaughter, Thea Owsley; one brother, Doug Thompson.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Michael Thompson.

Carolyn spent her early childhood in Indianapolis before leaving for Morgantown where she graduated from Morgantown High School in 1955. She worked as a Hostess for Lost Name Steak House in Mooresville and previously worked for other restaurants. She also worked at Sears and Empire Life Insurance.

Carolyn was a member of Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed roller skating, knitting, and crocheting.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 19th with additional visitation 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, December 20th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 20th following the visitation at the funeral home. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, Indiana.
