Mary Allen

Mary E. (Taylor) Allen, 83, of Mooresville, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born to Clarence O. and Violet Zella (Smith) Taylor on December 26, 1933 in Columbus. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1951. She married Roy H. Allen on October 30, 1953.

Mary grew up in Columbus and also lived in Cloverdale for 17 years, Indianapolis for 39 years and Mooresville for 9 years. Mary was a proud homemaker, a school bus driver for Decatur Township schools in Indianapolis for 9 years and also a bookkeeper for Custom Contractors in Indianapolis for 14 years. She was a member of Mooresville Church of Christ. She enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards with family and friends.

Mary is survived by five loving children, Teresa (Russell) Fry of Daytona Beach, FL, Myra (Dennis) Walker of Plainfield, Janet (Sam) Davis of Mooresville, Pat (Anna) Allen of Camby and Randy (Lori) Allen of Cloverdale; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Downing of Edinburgh; and a daughter-in-law, Kathie Allen of Greenwood. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Mark Allen; two sisters, Eva Knopp and Anna Plummer; and two brothers, Warren and Robert Taylor.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Ron Roberts will officiate the celebration of life service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the funeral home. Mary will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery.
