Marie E. Ailes

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marie E. Ailes, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on February 16, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on September 27, 1941, in Indianapolis, to her parents Clarence and Myrtle (Rike) Collier.

Marie was a dedicated bookkeeper at Jessup Trucking for 19 years, where her meticulous nature and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on her colleagues. She was also a proud member of Teamsters #135, embracing the camaraderie and dedication of her fellow workers. She attended Washington High School in Indianapolis, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and determination.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marie had a passion for reading and found joy in crocheting.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Ailes (Regina) of Indianapolis, and her four cherished grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her siblings, including three sisters-Linda Britton of Danville, Martha Shouse of Reelsville, and Lori Kennedy of Metamora-and two step-sisters, Kay Harris of Monrovia and Jeanine Miley of Quincy. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Shannon Harris.

In tribute to her life, family and friends are invited to gather for a public visitation that will be held on February 20, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM, at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place at 2:00 PM, leading to a graveside service at Fairfield Friends Cemetery, meeting there at 3:00 PM, where she will be laid to rest in Camby, Indiana.
