It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Marie Reynolds, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on December 14, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on June 20, 1927, to her parents Mount Barnett and Dolly (Barnett) Hodge, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Margaret lived a life filled with love, resilience, and a passion for education.
A proud graduate of Decatur Central High School in 1945, Margaret dedicated 33 years of her professional life as the Treasurer for Decatur Township Schools, where she tirelessly advocated for the importance of education and the well-being of her community's children. Her commitment extended beyond her career; she was a longstanding member of West Newton Friends Church, serving her faith with the same dedication she afforded her profession.
Margaret's home was a sanctuary filled with beauty, as she found immense joy in collecting antiques, gardening, and cooking. Her green thumb allowed her to cut her own grass until the age of 92, a testament to her vibrant spirit and determination. She will be remembered for her independence, activity, and the unwavering strength she displayed throughout her life.
Margaret is survived by her five devoted children: Connie Schakel (Will) of Knightstown, Donna Cook (Rex) of Camby, Jacque Baker (Jim) of Mooresville, Pam Stephens (Jerry) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mike Reynolds of Camby. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her ten grandchildren: Ryan Cook, Jeff Cook, Chris Schakel, Maria Amos, Kendra McFatridge, Kelli Wilcher, Deidra Roberts, Andrea Martin, Devin Reynolds, and Lauren Dodson, along with 18 great-grandchildren who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph "Joe" Reynolds, and both of her parents, who laid the foundation for the remarkable woman she became.
A celebration of Margaret's life will take place privately at the Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A graveside service will take place at West Newton Cemetery, where Margaret will be laid to rest.
As we gather to honor Margaret's incredible life, let us remember her as a woman of strength, grace, and love who enriched the lives of all who knew her. May her spirit live on in the cherished memories we hold dear.
