Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lois Ann (Jones) Douglas, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this world on May 16, 2026, at the age of 87. Lois was born in Indianapolis, to her parents Gerald and Ruth (Switzer) Jones, and spent her life in the surrounding communities, treasured for her kind spirit and unwavering love for her family.

A proud 1957 graduate of Decatur Central High School, Lois dedicated her career to the retail and insurance industries. She spent significant time doing administration at Indiana Lumbermans Insurance Company, having also held roles in administration at Eli Lilly and Company and later retiring from Kittles Furniture Store in sales. Her passion for her work was matched only by her love of gardening and nurturing the beauty of her yard, where she found much joy and relaxation.

Lois will be deeply missed by her two sons, Rick R. Cordray (Kim) of Avon, and Lee H. Hart (Margie) of Lakeland, Florida. Her son in law, Chris Wiesen of Fort Myers. Florida. She cherished her seven grandchildren-Derrick Cordray, Matthew Wiesen (Megan), Stephanie Kay Phelen (Tommy), Jacob Cordray (Faith), Luke Hart (Erin), Zachary Hart (Cora), and Benjamin Hart (Natalie)-and delighted in the laughter and joy brought by her eight great-grandchildren: Betty, Anaiya, Rex, Rhett, Killian, Madison, Georgia, and Julie. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Virginia Brown.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Larry H. Hart; her first husband, Robert W. Cordray; her cherished daughter, Brenda Kay Wiesen; and her brother-in-law, Jack L. Brown. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, whose memory she carried with her throughout her life.

A celebration of Lois's life will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service. The family invites you to join them for a public visitation at 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM. Lois will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Washington Park North Cemetery on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

As we remember Lois, let us carry forward the love she so freely gave. Her compassion, laughter, and passion for life will forever resonate in our hearts. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this time and invites her friends and loved ones to gather in celebration of her remarkable life. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty she cherished so dearly.
