Lilah Howell

Lilah Mae (Van Meter) Howell, 89, of Mooresville, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2018. She was born to Earl R. and Clara (Keal) Van Meter on February 13, 1928 in Laurel, IN. She married Robert R. Howell on January 13, 1952.

Lilah was an Owner for Howell's Upholstery in Pittsboro for 34 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She lived in Mooresville since 1997 and Pittsboro for 50 years.

Lilah is survived by two loving sons, Douglas M. Howell of Mooresville, Roger (Karen) Howell of Mooresville; four grandchildren, Lori Fitzgerald, James Shugars, Christopher Howell and Elizabeth Slack; five great-grandchildren, Macey, Chase, Noah, Ben and Natalie; and one sister, Kathleen Covey of Danville. Lilah is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Robert Van Meter; and two sisters, Phyllis Gwin and Juanita Higgs.

Family and friends may gather to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 26th and 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, January 27th in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Rev. Glenn Howell will officiate Lilah's celebration of life service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 27th in Jones Family Mortuary. Lilah will be laid to rest in Clayton Cemetery, Clayton.
