Lena May (Lucas) Wade Lewis, 99, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born to George J. and Annie (Pfeffer) Lucas on August 29, 1915 in Indianapolis. She graduated from Manual High School in 1933.
Lena worked as a clerk for William H. Block for several years. Previously, she worked as a secretary for Weekday Religious Education main office in Indianapolis for 13 years and 10 years as a head bookkeeper for Detroit Diesel Allison cafeteria. She was a member of Oakpark Baptist Church in Indianapolis and previous long time member of Friendswood Baptist Church, where she played the organ, directed the choir and taught Sunday School for most of her life. She was also a 50 year member of West Newton Order of Eastern Star. She lived in Mooresville since 1950 and her birthplace of Indianapolis for 35 years.
Lena is survived by three children, Beldon (Betty) Wade of Lafayette, George (Phyllis) Wade of FL, Mary (Randell) Willis of Mooresville; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren. Lena is preceded in death by her parents, George and Annie Lucas; spouse of 12 years, Kenneth Lewis; previous spouse of 51 years, Ralph Wade; a granddaughter, Ladonna Maxey; two great-grandbabies; two sisters, Ollie May & Irene Midkiff.
Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015 and 9:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor John Dunaway will officiate the 10:30 a.m. celebration of service on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary. Lena will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
