Larry La-Ray Jones

Larry La-Ray Jones, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024. He was born February 28th, 1955 in Indianapolis to his parents Larry W. and Shirley J. (Gladson) Jones. He married Melea M. (Parker) Jones on February 26th, 1975.

Larry is survived by his wife, Melea M. (Parker) Jones of Indianapolis; his father, Larry Wayne Jones; one grandson, Cameron Smith; two great granddaughters: Zoey Smith and Caydence Smith; two brothers: Matthew Jones (Lynn) and Sean Jones (Kim); two nieces: Katelynn Jones and Taylor Nordmeyer; one nephew, Jacob Jones; and two great nieces. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley J. Jones and one son, Christopher La-Ray Jones.

Larry was a 1973 graduate of Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis. He was a Police Officer for Cumberland, Indiana Police Department for two years. He previously was a Officer for Indianapolis Public Schools for 20 years. Larry was also the Owner and Operator of L&M Collectibles for a few years. He was a member and Past Master of Indianapolis Masonic Lodge #669 in 2015. He was also a member of the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine. Larry enjoyed target shooting and loved to talk about politics. He was known by many to be a very funny and smart aleck man, but in a humorous way.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 9th and from 9 to 10 am on Wednesday, July 10th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 am following visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 10th. Larry will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
