Kenneth "Troy" Burnett, 75, of Eminence, went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2016. Troy was born to Henry and Sara (Lawson) Burnett on February 16, 1941. Troy graduated from Eminence High School in 1959. He married Carol Jean (Gray) Burnett on October 5, 1962.
Troy was a Forklift Operator for General Motors Truck and Bus Plant for 45 years, retiring in 2004. He attended Corinth Baptist Church in Plano. He enjoyed fishing, camping and tinkering in the garage. He was a huge IU men's basketball fan, especially during Bobby Knights reign, and a big NASCAR fan. He lived in Eminence most of his life.
Troy is survived by two children, Shannon (Denise) Burnett of Bargersville, Debbie (Vince) Hochstetler of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Mallory and Hunter Burnett; spiritual son, John (Sandie) Dore of Ft. Wayne; two sisters, Marie Boles and Juanita Fishel; and a furry child, Cricket. Troy is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years and eight siblings, Chester Burnett, Robert Burnett, Kate Cottongim, Eva Mae Cheek, Matilda Smith, Maudie Fouty, Betty Brock and infant Ruth.
Family and friends may gather from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Gary LaFary will officiate Troy's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Jones Family Mortuary. Troy will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
