Kenneth "Sonny" D. Bartlett, 91, of Mount Vernon, IN, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, at The Springs of Mooresville. Kenneth was born in Beaver Dam, KY, on March 14, 1933, to the late Earl and Clara (Hoover) Bartlett. Kenneth was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Peggy Sue (Bourne) Bartlett on November 3, 1956 until her passing. He later married Margaret Ann Moye in 2014.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Moye of Mount Vernon, IN; two sons, Rick (Debbie) Bartlett of Indianapolis and David Bartlett of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Chris (Amanda) Bartlett and Nick (Katey) Bartlett; and four great-grandchildren, Rory, Cooper, Tinsley, and Tolsen Bartlett.
He was preceded in death by his first wife (mother to Rick and David), Peggy Sue (Bourne) Bartlett, and his parents.
Kenneth was a 1951 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He furthered his education at the University of Evansville, where he played basketball, before transferring to Purdue University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
An honorable veteran, Kenneth proudly served in the United States Air Force as a pilot flying the B-25.
Kenneth was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated Matrix Corporation in Indianapolis for 35 years. He was also dedicated to his community, serving on the Decatur Central School Board and the Decatur Central Civic Council/Land Use Committee.
Kenneth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, IN.
He loved his family and enjoyed the time spent with them especially on family vacations. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid reader, a great storyteller, and enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and sailing. He also had a knack for fixing anything and everything. His favorite travel destination was Sanibel Island, FL. A kind and wise man, Kenneth was a student of life who eagerly embraced every opportunity to learn and experience the world around him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service, with a celebration of life service following at 1 p.m., officiated by The Very Rev. Gray Lesesne. Kenneth will be laid to rest beside his late wife, Peggy Sue, in West Newton Cemetery.
