Juanita "Joan" Steffen, 78 years of age passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009. She was born June 8, 1930 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Kenneth T. and Ethel (Williams) Waggoner. She married Donald L. Steffen of Mooresville, IN on January 14, 1947.
Joan has lived in Mooresville, IN since 2008 and in Indianapolis, IN for 28 years, Greenwood, IN for 24 years, and Vevay, IN for 25 years. She was a member of the Vevay United Methodist Church; 25 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bennington, IN; Rebekah Lodge, Homemakers Club and Music Club both in Vevay, IN; and Sew and Sews. Joan was a Secretary for Dr. Robert W. Ogle in Greenwood, IN for 15 years before retiring in 1982.
Joan is survived by her Husband, Donald L. Steffen of Mooresville, IN; 3 Children: Anita Carter of Richmond, VA, Janet Jackson of Plainfield,IN, and Ethelyn Schlueter of Monrovia, IN; 15 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Granddaughter. She is also preceded in death by 1 Son, Kenneth Lee Steffen.
Calling hours for Joan will be from 3-8pm, Monday, April 20, 2009 and also 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Jones Family Mortuary. There will also be an Order of the Eastern Star service on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 7:30pm at Jones Family Mortuary. The Funeral Service will be at 10am, Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Jones Family Mortuary. Rev. Ken Morgan will officiate the service and Juanita will be laid to rest at Washing Park East in Indianapolis, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes and the American Heart Association.
