Joy A. Franklin

Joy A. (Hendricks) Franklin, 67, of Mooresville, IN went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Methodist Hospital. She was born February 4, 1948 in Pennington Gap, VA to Claude L. Hendricks and Peg (Cooper) Hendricks. Joy was raised in Decatur Township and spent most of her adult life in Markleville, IN. She was a 1966 graduate of Decatur Central High School. Joy continued her education receiving her Masters Degree from Anderson University in Psychology. Joy was currently an employee of Walmart in Camby where she was a clerk for the past five years. She was also involved as an EMT for Adams Township Volunteer Fire Department for about 20 years in Markleville, IN. Joy was a member of Kingston Ave Baptist Church in Anderson, enjoyed arts and crafts, working in her garden and was also involved with The Cherokee Nation. Joy is survived by her husband, Morris Franklin of Markleville, IN; 3 children: Tesha Franklin of Indianapolis, Lisa Franklin of Markleville, IN and Eddie (Melissa) Franklin of Pendleton, IN; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; mother, Peg Hendricks of Mooresville; brother, Jim Hendricks of KY and 2 sisters: Mildred Spoon of Mooresville and Glenda Mason of AK. Joy is also preceded by her father, Claude L. Hendricks and 3 brothers: Ron, Michael and Eddie Hendricks. Family and friends may gather 4-8 pm, Monday, August 31, 2015 and 10-11 am, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Jim Hendricks will officiate the celebration of life service on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11 am. Joy will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
