Johnny Calvin Wright, 88, of Camby, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2014. Johnny was born to Arthur & Pearl (Elkins) Wright on August 16, 1925 in Indianapolis. Johnny was a Marine Corp Veteran and Purple Heart recipient during World War II. Johnny married Mary (Clements) Wright on August 16, 1946.
Johnny was a Service Technician for Sears in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. He enjoyed fixing anything broke. He has lived in Camby for the past 28 years, Gosport for 10 years and his birthplace of Indianapolis for 50 years.
Johnny is survived by four children, Debera (Walter) Carlisle of Camby, Patricia Seaver of Indianapolis, Johnnie (Phillip) Hesselgrave of Mooresville and James "Calvin" Wright of Martinsville; 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pearl Wright; wife, Mary Wright; two daughters, Barbara Ann Wright and Donna Louise Lahrman; two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Mark and a brother and sister.
Family and friends may attend calling hours from 3-8 p.m., Friday, July 25, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Moooresville and 10-11 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1150 State Road 144, Mooresville. Pastor Everett Barnard will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Mooresville. Johnny will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
