John Wayne Walling, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born on December 31, 1950, in Indianapolis, to his parents Arlie Ray and Shirley Mae (Edwards) Walling, where he spent his life surrounded by family and friends who cherished him deeply.
John was a proud veteran who served valiantly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His courage as a helicopter gunner earned him numerous medals, a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country. After his service, he dedicated over 20 years to working as a machinist in the tool and die industry, contributing his skills to notable companies such as Sheet Metal Models in Indianapolis, Federal Mogul in Mooresville, and Webco.
A true outdoorsman, John found joy in fishing and hunting. He was a dedicated member of a buck skinning club, where he took pride in crafting his own hunting attire from buck hide and even built his own .50 caliber muzzleloader. Those who knew him will remember him as a man's man, someone who exemplified strength, courage, and a zest for life.
John leaves behind a loving family, including his three children: John Walling (Len), Ashley Walling, and Allison Harris.
