John dedicated 32 remarkable years to Howard W. Sams Company, later known as ITT Publishing, from 1958 to 1990. Starting in the mailroom, he worked his way up through various roles and, in 1985, became Vice President of Operations, a testament to his hard work and resilience.
After retirement, John and his wife, Jean, embarked on a new adventure by founding van Biezen & Associates, Inc., which they operated from 1990 to 1992. He also enriched his life by serving part-time as a vineyard production worker for Oliver Winery from 1991 until May 2006.
A proud high school graduate, John attended Shortridge High School and Ohio Military Academy. He honorably served in the Army from 1956 to 1959, achieving the rank of Specialist E-4, exemplifying his commitment to service.
John's faith led him to attend Faith Church in Martinsville, Indiana, when he could. His passion for travel took him to all 50 states, with Hawaii being the destination of a special vow renewal with Jean in 2024, celebrating 40 years of love and partnership.
A true community champion, John volunteered at the Senior Expo and the Morgan County Relay for Life. His dedication earned him the title of Volunteer of the Year for Morgan County Memorial Hospital, now IU Morgan, in 1999. His love for gardening and yard work brought him joy, but nothing compared to the cherished moments spent with family.
