John W. Sturm, 88, of Mooresville, IN, died on April 9, 2012. John was born to Orville & Mary Jane (Chew) Sturm on October 3, 1923 in Angola, IN. John graduated from Southport High School in 1941 & attended Lehigh University for 2 years. John was an Army World War II Veteran. John married Virginia F. (Dahl) Sturm on October 3, 1946. John was a Morgan County Dairy Farmer & also a Chemical Engineer for Bridgeport Brass for 43 years. John lived in central Indiana for most of his life and 16 years in his birthplace of Angola, IN. John was a member of Mooresville VFW #1111. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening & pretty much anything outdoors. John was a skilled carpenter. John also enjoyed bowling. John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia F. (Dahl) Sturm of Mooresville, IN; 3 daughters, Judy Cummins of Indianapolis, IN, Deb Sturm of Mooresville, IN & Karen Ann Sturm of Mooresville, IN; daughter in law, Donna Sturm of Mooresville, IN; 8 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Edy Swagger of Angola, IN & Marie Parks of Indianapolis, IN. John was preceded in death by his parents, Orville & Mary Jane (Chew) Sturm & 2 sons, John F. Sturm & Kenneth W. Sturm. Calling hours for John will be from 3-8pm, Wednesday, April 11, 2012 and 9-10am, Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. Brian Sturm & Ed Cummins will officiate the 10am funeral service on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary. John will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Glenns Valley.
