John M. Scott, 69, of Mooresville, Indiana passed away Tuesday, April 11th, 2023. He was born May 6th, 1953 in Ottumwa, Iowa to his parents Donald E. and Janice K. (Shieber) Scott. He was married to Jama (Shrake) Scott on August 23rd, 1991. He was a resident of Mooresville since 1991.
John is survived by his wife, Jama (Shrake) Scott of Mooresville; five children: Johnny (Jennifer) Scott of Florida, Jimey (Kristi) Hightshue of Plainfield, Jimmy (Shelly) Scott of Tennessee, Luke (Julie) Hightshue of Arizona, and Julie (Patrick) Sperling of Colorado; 27 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers: Donald, Royal, and Stephen Scott; and three sisters: Rebecca Turner, Marcella Johnson, and Verla Ulrich. John is preceded in death by both of his parents; and one brother, Mark Scott.
John was a 1971 graduate of LaVille High School in Lakeville, Indiana. He later graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Sacred Literature from Gehring Bible College. John was a Painter out of Local 47 and Owner of Pro Scott Painting. He also worked for Whalen Painting Company. John was a member of Mt. Gilead Church. He loved fishing, preaching the Gospel and enjoyed being a father and grandfather. John was the sweetest man anyone could know. He was loved by everyone and he loved everyone in return. John had a servants heart and was willing to help anyone. He was known for having a great sense of humor and those that knew him, would say there was never a dull moment with John.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4-6 pm, Friday, May 12, 2023 at Mt. Gilead Church in Mooresville. Scott Johnson will officiate the celebration of life service following the gathering at 6 pm at the Church. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
