John Roquemore Rogers 82, Indianapolis, died May 24, 2005. He was born September 29, 1922 in New York City to Lorlys Rogers and Esther Johnson Rogers. He was a Deferred Giving Consultant for Charitable Organizations for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Previously, he was a Game Biologist five years in Washington and a CLU (Certified Life Underwriter) for 10 years. Mr. Rogers was a life member of West Newton Friends Meeting, immediate Past President of the Westside Retirement Residence Council, life member of the Spencer Lions Club, where he served as President, Decatur Township Lions Club, where he also served as President, member of the Indiana Council of Fundraising Executives, founding member of the Owen County Community Foundation. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp. He was a 1941 graduate of Decatur Central, a 1947 graduate of Earlham College (B.S. Degree) and attended Washington State University for two years. Survivors include wife Elizabeth (Pennington) Rogers of Indianapolis, IN; seven children John A. Rogers of Jamestown, IN, Gary L. Rogers of Mooresville, IN, Christy Wampler of Knox, IN, Wendy Pallman of Carmel, IN, Mark Rogers of Spencer, IN, Douglas Rogers of New York, Amy Paddock of Ohio; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Lorlys "Bill" Rogers and parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the John R. and Elizabeth P. Rogers Fund at Owen County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 503 Spencer, IN 47460. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005 in West Newton Friends Meeting, 6800 S. Mooresville Road, Indianapolis, IN, officiated by Doug Baker, with calling there from 11 a.m. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Indiana.
