John William Pemberton

John William Pemberton, 84, of Avon, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born March 31st, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN to his parents Keith and Belva (Wade) Pemberton.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carole Pemberton of Avon; two children: daughter, Michelle Pemberton (Ross Montgomery) of Indianapolis; son, John Pemberton Jr of Speedway; two sisters, Tonda Curry (the late George) Curry of Chicago, and Sally Irwin (Sam) of Mars Hill.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Belva (Wade) Pemberton; and three brothers: Kenny, Wayne and Steve Pemberton.

John spent his formative years growing up in Mars Hill. He was a Ventilation Technology Engineer for Lau Industries for years, prior to this he was self-employed and owner/operator of Air Development which he started 1992. John also owned a Speed Shop in the early days of his life building hot rods for leisure which he continued to do throughout his lifetime.

He attended Parkside Church (formerly Bethesda) in Brownsburg. John was a hip and trendy man who had a great sense of humor and liked to have fun no matter what he was doing. He was a hot rod enthusiast, enjoyed racing, boating and motorcycles in his pastime. He is known to be the first person to drag a corvette at Indianapolis Raceway Park and also drove his father's convertible in a high school parade. John was also an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts.

Cremation and final arrangements entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service, Mooresville, Indiana. The family is planning a private ceremony for a later date.
