John Russell Lambert

March 6, 1917 — August 10, 2023

John Russell "Russ" Lambert, 106, of Camby, passed away Thursday, August 10th, 2023. He was born March 6th, 1917 in Indianapolis to his parents Frank and Tina (Pfaffenberger) Lambert. He married his first wife, Elsie Mae (Totman) Lambert and later on married Rosemary (Wischmeyer) (Smith) Lambert. He was a resident of Camby for 93 years.

Russ is survived by his son, Robert Lambert (Marti) of Mooresville; two daughters: Drucilla van Avermaete of Washington and Teresa Bannon (Michael) of Florida; two step children: Michele Stokes (Rob) of Plainfield and Danny Smith (Claudia) of California; 13 grandchildren;12 great grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law: Sandy Lambert and Donna Lambert. Russ is preceded in death by both of his parents; his first wife, Elsie Mae (Totman) Lambert; his second wife, Rosemary (Wischmeyer) (Smith) Lambert; two sons: John Lambert and David Lambert; and one step son, Pat Smith.

Russ was a 1935 graduate of Mooresville High School and obtained his Compositor Apprenticeship in 1943. He later on joined the United States Navy, serving during World War II and honorably discharged in 1946. Russ was a Printer for the Indianapolis Star for 16 years before retiring 1979. He attended Life Song Church at Five Points and was also a member of Drexel Gardens Christian Church. Russ was member of PPPSI (Pompier, Pump, and Playpipe Society of Indiana) and founding member of Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department in 1955. He was a life member of VFW Post 1111 and American Legion #103. Russ was also a member of NRA.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 15th and from 9 to 10 am on Wednesday, August 16th at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, 4161 E. Allison Road in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 16th following visitation at the banquet center. Russ will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
