It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Robert Griffith, a beloved father, brother, and friend. Born on June 4, 1960, in Beech Grove, to his parents Robert Dale and Nancy Lou (Perry) Griffith, John departed this life on May 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and faith.
As a dedicated truck driver, John spent many years on the road, most recently with Wagler Farms, embodying the principles of hard work and commitment. His journey began in Mooresville, where he attended Mooresville High School, and his path always led him back to the community he cherished. An avid animal lover, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life-cooking for family and friends, sharing laughter, and offering his gentle kindness to all who knew him.
John was a devoted member of Waverly Baptist Church in Martinsville, where he nurtured his strong faith. He approached life with a God-fearing spirit, tackling every challenge with a steadfast heart. John will be lovingly remembered by his children: Megan Griffith of Indianapolis, Tonja Riley-Yarling of Shelbyville, and Shawn Riley of Columbus, along with his siblings: Cathy Richardson-Cline (Phillip) of Owingville, Kentucky, Joe Griffith (Tori) of Dover, Tennessee, and Terry Griffith of Mooresville. He is preceded in death by his cherished parents and his brother, Timothy Griffith.
In honor of John's life and contributions, a series of ceremonies will be held. Family and friends are invited to gather for a public visitation at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service on May 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and on May 15, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on May 15, 2026, honoring his memory and celebrating the impact he had on so many lives. A graveside service will follow at White Lick Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, reflecting his spirit of giving and care for others.
John Robert Griffith was a hardworking, simple man whose life was a testament to the virtues of love, faith, and resilience. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding us all of the profound strength found in kindness.
