Joe Wright

Joe Wright, 79, of Mooresville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 in his home. He was born October 11th, 1939 to Dora Bluford and Verena (Riggle) Johnson in Oaktown. He married Melba J (Atkerson) Wright on June 7, 1958. He lived most of his life in Marco, but has been a resident of Mooresville since 2002. Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Melba (Atkerson) Wright of Mooresville; three loving children, Janet (Ron) Bentley of West Branch, Michigan, Deborah (John) Friend of Indianapolis, and Joe Jr (Tammy) Wright; four siblings, Shirley Marsh, Tommy Wright, Harry Wright, and Jessie Wright; 11 grandchildren, Anthony, Sara, Jennifer, John III, Heather, Aaron, Amanda, Nicolas, Jilly, Michelle, and Brian; 29 great grandchildren. Joe is preceded in death by both his parents; one brother Johnny Wright and one sister Juanita Gilbert; and grandparents Clarence and Lena Wright who raised him from the age of two. Joe was a 1957 graduate of Marco High School in Marco. He was the owner/operator and Auto Mechanic for Wrights Auto Care and Towing Services since 1983 and retired in 2013. He was an active member of Masonic Lodge #669. While in the lodge he was Past Master Mason for two consecutive terms. Family and friends may show their love and support from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday June 25, 2019 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. There will be a Masonic Service that will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 25, 2019 at the funeral home. Pastor Bill VanHorn will officiate a Celebration of Life Service to follow.
