Joan Ilene Burdsall

Joan Ilene (Wood) Burdsall, 80, of Plainfield, passed away Sunday, August 25th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 31st, 1944, to the late Roscoe James and Magdalen (Browning) Wood. Joan married Jerry Marvin Burdsall on September 15th, 1962. They were together just shy of 62 years.

Joan is survived by her husband; three children: Julie Smith (Rodney) of Plainfield, Gregory Burdsall (Debora) of Greenwood, and Amanda Hoff (Lee) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grandchildren: Samantha Hawk, Grant Smith, Stephanie Burdsall, Nathan Burdsall, and Eli Hoff; three great grandchildren: Piper Smith, Bishop Smith, and Mikayla Hawk; and two siblings: Jim Wood of Kokomo and Sue Gregory of Gary.

Joan is preceded in death by both of her parents and three siblings: Butch Wood, Mary Fascato, and Fran Danner.

Joan was a 1962 graduate of Odon High School. She worked at Wards Apparel in Mooresville as an office worker for 40 years. Joan was a member of Mooresville Church of Christ for many years. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan was known to be a wonderful wife and mother, living her life with a servant's heart. As a loving woman, Joan loved the Lord and proudly served everyday of her life.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8pm on Wednesday, August 28th and 10 to 11am on Thursday, August 29th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. Randy Allen will lead the funeral service which will be held at 11am following visitation at the Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29th. Joan will be laid to rest at Mooresville Cemetery in Mooresville with a graveside service to be officiated by Ron Roberts.
