Jim L. Pottorff Jr.

Jim L. Pottorff Jr., 69, of Mooresville, passed away Thursday, August 7th, 2025. He was born April 7th, 1956 in Beech Grove to his parents James Lloyd and Joan M. (Long) Pottorff Sr. He lived in Indianapolis for most of his life but moved to Mooresville in 1996.

Jim is survived by his son, James B. Pottorff of Mooresville; one brother, Michael Wayne Pottorff of Martinsville; and one sister, Barbara Ann Sharp of Greenwood.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

Jim, a proud 1974 graduate of Southport High School, dedicated 10 years of his life as a heavy equipment operator for Rays Trash before retiring in 2018. His journey included valuable experience at Mooresville Paint and Body. A member of Martinsville Masonic Lodge #74 and Monrovia Masonic Lodge #654, he entered the lodge alongside his father and was raised as a Mason in 1979. While he took immense pride in his Masonic membership, his greatest joy came from his relationship with his son, James. Together, they shared a passion for working on cars. Jim was known for his caring nature, always ready to lend a helping hand, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, August 11th with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 pm and from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, August 12th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 12th at the funeral home. Jim will be laid to rest at Gosport Cemetery in Gosport.
