Jessie Gentry, 84, of Camby, passed away Thursday, May 7th, 2020. He was born October 7th, 1935 in Red Lick, Kentucky to his parents, Glenn and Elon (Bicknell) Gentry. He married Carolyn (Thompson) Gentry on September 18th, 1965. He spent his early childhood in Red Lick, Kentucky and grew up in Monrovia. He spent most of his life in Mooresville. Jessie is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Carolyn (Thompson) Gentry of Camby; three children: Kathy (Lee) Ward of Indianapolis, Sherri (Philip) Cave of Trafalgar, and Greg Gentry of Gosport; three grandchildren: Nathaniel Cave, Jessica Cave (fiance, Dayton Owsley with his daughter, Thea) and McKenzie Gentry; two brothers: Morris Gentry and Lewis Gentry; and two sisters: Druscilla Van Hoy and Jeffie Wade. Jessie is preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Clark Gentry; and three sisters: Lillie Miller, Virginia Hammer, and Maxine Gentry. Jessie was a 1954 graduate of Monrovia High School and later went on to join the Army before discharging in 1964. He worked for Black and Decker as a Senior Tool Repairman for 43 years before retiring in 1998. Jessie was a member of Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville. He enjoyed gardening and coon hunting. Jessie was also an avid Nascar enthusiast. Due to the current unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings, there will be a private visitation with a private service officiated by Pastor Gary Fox II to follow at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
