Jesse H. Phillips

Jesse H. Phillips, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, March 25th, 2022 at his home in Mooresville, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 8th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, with Jess's grandson, Drew Phillips, officiating. A visitation will be held prior from 12pm to 1pm at the funeral home. Jess will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton. Jess was born in Deer Lodge, TN on September 15, 1928. He graduated from Decatur High School in Indianapolis in 1946. Jess served in the US Naval Reserve as a Radio Operator. He married Janet McKeand in May of 1955. They raised 3 children together before Janet died of cancer in 1990. He worked as a Senior Service Engineer for Allison Gas Turbine for 45 years. He built his own house and expanded it several times as the family grew. He was a great provider. Jess married Shirley Carter Armstrong in 1991 and they established a home in Mooresville, where they entertained the blended families and many friends. Jess is survived by his spouse, Shirley Phillips; three children: Scott (Darlene) Phillips, Ned (Patsy) Phillips, Sally (Tim) Pendergrass; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
