Jerry Joseph Norris

Jerry Joseph Norris, 89, of Indianapolis passed away Monday, January 15th, 2024. He was born December 5th, 1934 in Washington, Indiana to his mother, Mildred Gott. He married Jamia Jeanene (Phelps) Norris on May 20th, 1957.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jamia J. (Phelps) Norris; five children: Debbie Harper (Dean) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jo DeLano of Indianapolis, Judy LaFlower of Martinsville, Michael Norris of Clayton, and Lindsey Norris (Janet) of Camby; and nine grandchildren. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; two children: Jacquelyn Moll and Jerri Hensley; and three siblings.

Jerry was a 1953 graduate of Washington High School. He worked as a Stock Chaser for Allison Transmission for 17 years before retiring. Jerry also attended barber school. After retirement, he spent his time barbering. Jerry attended River of Life Church in Indianapolis. He enjoyed feeding birds, fishing, attending church functions and spending time with his family. Jerry was described to be very kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He loved telling stories, playing jokes and pranks.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, January 19th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Jerry will be laid to rest at Washington Park East in Indianapolis.
