Jennie Farley Hamilton, 97, died May 29, 2008 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on January 14, 1911 in Sandborn,IN to the late Francis Marion and Lula (Cain) Farley. She was married to the late A.R. Hamilton. She was a member of the West Newton United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Sandborn High School in 1928. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Indiana State Teachers College and obtained her Masters Degree from Butler University. Her first teaching assignment was in Bruceville, IN.
After several years as a stay at mother, she returned to teaching in the Knox County High Schools. Followed by a long career as a third grade teacher in Decatur Township beginning in 1956 at West Newton Elementary,she transferred to Valley Mills Elementary, when that school opened. She retired in 1976.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to West Newton United Methodist Chuch, 6843 Mendenhall Road, Indianapolis, IN 46221.
Calling hours will be from 10-12noon on Monday, June 2, 2008 before the 12noon funeral at West Newton United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael S. Brockway will conduct the funeral service. Entombment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include children, James (Marilyn Schwartz) Hamilton of Indianpolis, IN, Virginia (William A.) Rogers of Fort Worth, TX; five gradchildren, John A. (Christine Kieffer) Hamilton, Susan J. (Jeff) Sparks, Janet M. (Joseph) Rubleske, Elizabeth C. Rogers and William E. Rogers; seven great grandchildren.
